Paint Chips and Cards

I remember reading awhile back how you can use paint chips from the various stores on your cards. I have been going to those stores to get paint and decided to get a few extra paint chips to try on a card. I knew exactly what stamp I was going to use on the card, which did make it alittle easier when it came to deciding on the color paint chips to get. I wanted to make a masculine card with a new Stampin' Up! stamp that is in the new summer mini and will be able to be bought on May 1st. It is called Sail Away. It is perfect to use for making a masculine card....love it!!!

I first stamped the image on whisper white card stock and I used watercolor wonder crayons and an aqua painter to color it in. After it was done I ran it through the big shot in one of my favorite embossing folders(square lattice). After I decided which paint chip to use(you know I had to get more than one...ok more than a few lol),I decided to tear the sides to give it a more "natural" look....the straigh cut look just was not doing it for me. Now I didn't want to add too much to the card, but it still needed something to the back ground of the card. That is when I went I got out my color spritzer tool and markers. I spritzed my card a bit and it added just the right amount on the card stock to give it the look I was going for. I put the card together, added the saying, the button and my masculine card was complete.

It was a simple, easy and quick card to make. I will be making some more of these and I am going to try some different colors on it too. I also can't wait to see what other cards I will be using my other paint chips on.....I got them....now I have to use them! LOL

Gail

Cake anyone?......

I wish I could say that I came up with this card idea/layout myself....but I can not take credit for it. I saw this card on another blog(stamping with Di) and from my up line. I did see it awhile back and did not have this stamp set at that time. When I did get the set I knew it was one I had to CASE.

I used my watercolor wonder crayons on the cakes. I am really having fun with them!!

Doing the "awning" part of the card was alittle of a challenge since I was trying to get it perfect. It is so worth the look though!! You have got to try it.

Today I am going to try and make a card for another challenge. I am also going to play with some of the new stamp sets and punches that arrived at my house yesterday from my lovely UPS guy....gotta love those guys!! The new items that I got are from the summer mini and you can start to order them May 1st. They are awesome...wait until you see.

Hope you all find some time to do alittle card making/crafting yourself today too!!!

Happy crafting,

Gail

My first challenge card

I have always wanted to try doing a card for a challenge. I aways see all these great cards and love them. Last week I finally decided to make the time and do one instead of just wanting to do one. I am so glad that I did. It was fun and gave me another idea for a layout for other cards. In fact I had to make a card for a birthday party my one son went to on Friday night. It was alot quicker to make one since I already knew the layout of it. Of course I was running late and did not remember to take a picture of it.:-(

I used my watercolor wonder crayons on this card like the last one I posted. You will also notice that it is the same set of stamps....just different stamp used. I guess I was on a roll with both the set and the crayons...LOL!

Today I am hoping to make some more cards. First I have some paper work I have to go through.....I just hate it when the paper work gets in the way of the "playing", don't you?

Have a great day and here's to Happy crafting!

Love my vitamin!!!

This a card I made the other day with a set that I have had for a little while. It is a set with coffee and tea in it. When I saw the coffee cups and the sayings I knew it was one that I would get. There is just something about the coffee theme that I am really liking. Even bought some coffee decor items for my kitchen.

I colored the stack of cups in with an aqua painter and watercolor wonder crayons. I loved the look and it was so easy. I have had the watercolor wonder crayons for sometime now and didn't use them until last week. I'm sorry I waited this long and I know I will be using them alot more. They are so easy to use with the water pen or with blender pens from Stampin' Up! I still have to play with them some more. There are a few other ways to use them and I will let you know how that goes and what they are after I do it.

So now that I have posted this,it has made me want a nice hot cup of coffee. I think Hazelnut decaf is calling me from the kitchen right now!! LOL I usually drink regular not decaf, and could use the caffeine now,but it is getting alittle late and I would really like to sleep tonight. So with that, I think I will go get my coffee and go relax.....or maybe go make a card with my coffee in one hand and a stamp in the other.

Happy crafting,

Gail

Pink,Simple and Elegant

The stamp set I used to make this card is called Strength and Hope. It is a new set from Stampin' Up! and when I saw it I just knew I had to order it. For every set SU! sells, they are donating $2 to the Breast Cancer Foundation. This foundation is very near and dear to my heart.

My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer this past summer. She has gone through an operation, chemo, radiation and is now on the longest part of her journey...taking meds everyday for the rest of her life to keep the cancer(hopefully,God willing) from coming back. Through it all she was positive and kept her Mary Kay business going. I am so proud of her and she is an inspiration to me and many other people too. Love you sis!!!

With making the card I knew I wanted to make it simple but some what elegant and of course pink. I used the embossing folder and then sponged pink on it to give it alittle more color and the elegant look. The H stamp has the word HOPE under it. It is small and hard to see in the picture. I used the other stamps on the inside...of course I didn't think to take a picture of the inside of the card. I will have to add that another day.

If anyone would like to get this stamp to help the breast cancer foundation let me know and I would be more than happy to help you with that. It really is a great cause.

Happy crafting,

Gail

Embossing folder pop.....

I was planning on posting this card yesterday but never got a chance since I had a sick son home from school. I actually have two sick sons home now.....it is so nice that they love to share their sickness! LOL I gave them jello, a drink and said I need five minutes to myself. So here I am.

Ok enough of that and on to the real stuff....the card.

I've seen cards using this technique with the embossing folders and have wanted to try it but have been doing other techniques first. I finally used it the other day. Another easy way of making something you have used differently and giving you a new look. It really makes the embossed part of the card stand out that much more. I can't wait to try it with other color inks and on my other embossing folders. Give it a try and see what you think.....have fun with it!

Happy crafting,

Gail
